Amazon S3 Drive

From this tutorial you will learn how to mount an Amazon S3 Bucket as a Network Drive under Windows (or how to map an S3 Bucket as a Windows Drive). First of all you need to download and install. The easiest way to integrate with Amazon S3 from anywhere. Our Amazon S3 drivers offer a data-centric model for Amazon S3 that dramatically simplifies integration — allowing developers to build higher quality applications, faster than ever before. Learn more about the benefits for developers.

You may also need to configure additional settings in order to connect to S3-compatible storage, for example the Signature Version or the Addressing Model.

By default the Path Style addressing model is used and the Signature Version 2.

In order to modify these settings, please click the Advanced S3-compatible storage settings link located at the bottom left corner of the dialog.

The Advanced S3-compatible storage settings dialog will open: 2018 premier pro.

You may configure the following settings here:

Signature Version - the most widely supported signature version is V2. If Signature V4 is supported by the storage, we recommend to switch to V4. External hard drive not showing up on any computer.

Addressing Model - the most supported addressing model is Path-style and it is selected by default, but you may need to change it to the Virtual-host style.

Override storage regions - you may define your custom storage region(s) here, the format is Region Name=region-code. Multiple regions can be defined, each region on a new line. If you define multiple regions, the storage must support s3-compatible GetBucketLocation API call.

Region-specific endpoint - an optionaf field you may use to specify region specific endpoint template for your s3-compatible storage, the {region-code} variable can be used to specify the placeholder for the region code.

If Version 4 is selected for the Signature and the s3:GetBucketLocation API call is supported by the storage, the {region-code} variable will be replaced with the region code returned by this call, resulting the construction of region specific endpoint, thus allowing you to avoid region-specific redirections and extra requests.

Here is another sales pitch. You can use CloudBerry Backup to automatically backup your data from Windows 7 64 bits to Amazon S3.
Thanks

Amazon supplies the space but it is up to you to decide how you want to use and access it. This is done with 3rd party applications such as those you were informed about in a couple of posts there.
Personally I use Jungle Disk to access mine and they do have a 64 bit client.

I appreciate the answers here, but would really like to hear from an Amazon representative

At present, Amazon does not provide software that allows drive mapping on any operating system. Many third-parties provide utilities that supply this functionality, some of them have provided links to their solutions above. Amazon also does not currently recommend particular solutions that third-parties may choose to provide that extend the functionality of the S3 Application Programming Interface.

Hi,

WebDrive has great support for Amazon S3 (along with WebDAV, SFTP, and FTP/S). Adobe version 7. It comes in both 64 and 32 bit flavors and will run on all versions of Windows.

Hope that helps!

I have not been able to find any open source or free solutions to mount s3 as a windows drive. This would be the ideal scenario, as you can use your already existing backup software (in my case acronis true image) and simply add another external destination.
But I have found free software that can backup to s3 directly. It is a version of Duplicity (well known and widely used) for windows, called Duplicati:
http://www.duplicati.com/
My external backup destination used to be Crashplan (unlimited storage for US$5/month), but they have been plagued with problems lately.
Hope this helps.

Hi This is not a perfect answer, but at least I won't try to sell you these pants third party solutions..
windows (and in fact DOS) includes a utility subst
usage
startkey+[r]
cmdenter
(you should see a command prompt)
cd navigate to the parent folder of the folder you wish to mount as dir i.e. c:usersuser to mount the folder c:usersuserzdrive as z:
subst z: zdrive
now all you have to do is download one of the many python / java utilities that allows you to sync an s3 with a folder on your computer, genius!

To add to the suggestion of using subst, which is an excellent outside the box suggestion - though you might also just use another actual physical drive to achieve the same - USB or internal, makes no difference.
Amazon does provide the cli or command line interface tool, which can be installed under Windows, Mac and Linux. http://aws.amazon.com/cli
This tool would allow you to synchronise your drive, something like this:
This would upload any local changes to s3, and if a local file was removed, it would delete it from s3. You could run something like that as a regular task.
If you've got data on s3 already, you can get the data from s3 to your drive, just reverse the paths:
